Chrome Trim - Door Trim and Tape-on Trim

For a small investment, you can add a good bit of sparkle to your "mistress". Both of these items are available at Pepboys for around $15 for a roll of either chrome door trim or chrome half round stick on trim. On installed it looks better than expected in my opinion. Before applying the stick on version, clear the area and wipe it down with a little rubbing alcohol to remove any oils on the surface of what you are sticking it to. The Door trim seems to have a pre-applied bead of rubber cement which holds it in place. If you remove the door trim, expect a rubbery residue you will have to remove from the surface, so plan accordingly.

A strip of the door trim on the top rail of the Wompus rack brightens up the black powder coated surface well.  The flexibility factor and the inability of the door trim to make a hard angle without cutting the trim is a limitation.

Here, all I did was follow the lip of the saddlebag and ran 1 strip of the stick on chrome from the outside of each bottom door hedge around the door. Of course you need to measure it before you cut the strip.  When applying the run of chrome, you simply use your thumb and index finger, and the edge of the door as guide, and work your way around the door edge securing the chrome as you slide your hand.

I like the way this chrome can follow the curves and stay where you put it.

A close up shot shows a nice add on for $15. I was able to do everything shown on this page with one roll the chrome stick on.

Dang, still more of this left let's put some here,  and here and here....hehehe.

One final word of caution, when using a cleaning rag around the ends of this chrome, be careful not to snag the ends or you may risk getting cloth fibers stuck on the ends of the cut portions of chrome... remember the tape that holds it on is tape.

I call this my chrome bamboo look , after all, it is a metric......buahahaha. I had to cover up that spot with something!
