V&H Bagger Fun

This is a completely simple and fun mod to do. The best I can tell, you will loose nothing. I can not discern any loss in the power band at all. If anything, I think it pulls a little more in the higher end of the gears.

The sound is a little lower than the stock bagger and mellower in the pitch of the sound at highway speeds. And yes it has a nice bark under acceleration. It's the idle sound that is most impressive, it just sounds wicked, similar to a HD but very much still Nomadish.

For others out there looking for a 1 stop shop for the parts....Home Depot carries a 14"x10' roll of this Valley Roll-flashing @ $8.48 located right next to the lumber section and  the 3-4" clamps are $1.29 each in the pluming section.

OK, here are pics and a description of what I did to the baffles on my V&H Baggers. Shaft recommends this mod and after hearing his bike at Boscobel, Chuck and I decided for me to try it and see what I thought. I have to say, I really like it. It really gives the pipes a deeper tone and the one annoying thing about baggers, the decel cackle is gone and at highway speeds, they are much, much more enjoyable. Not as sharp to the ear.

1. Pull baffles and slowly unwrap the packing material. It should stay in one piece like in the picture. You can put it in a bag if you ever want to use it again.

2. Cut 2 pieces of sheet metal 11 1/4" x 16" of 26gauge or thinner metal. Heavier metal is very hard to work around the inside of the baffle.

3. Roll sheet metal on inside of baffle as shown and band it with 3" hose/muffler type of clamps as shown. Do the center one first. One thing on this mod, the center clamp should only be tight enough to keep the metal from bowing out a bit in the middle. Don't tighten it too much because the center of the baffle is thinner than the ends.

4. Insert baffles and ride to check it out to see if you like it. If you don't, the baffle packing would be easy to reinstall and put it back the way it was.
