Lean and mean isn't always a good thing...

Nomad FI's run lean. I figure in order to more easily meet EPA regulations and what not. The extra heat generated by a lean engine, I assume, is offset in the fact that the engine is water cooled. When I put my V&H Baggers on, I noticed a tendency for the engine to actually die when I was getting off the Interstate ramps while coming to a stop. Anyway, Dobeck can fix you right up and resolve that little issue for you. In fact, when you decide that you want to put that 9" air filter on the bike beside your right leg, you will definitely want one of these to put more fuel in with all that air your about to suck in to the engine. This unit installs easily, with a little time, and once installed it is easily adjustable without any type of PC downloads or any of that hassle. A pretty cool little unit.
Let me say this, all this unit does it ADD fuel, so expect a minor drop in you MPG. Yes it is going to happen depending on how much more fuel you elect to "add in" to the mix that your ECU unit is telling the system it needs. I dropped about 2 MPG. Go to their site and read the support forum, there are a lot of good post there. Some dude named Trooper had some good thoughts in their posts. :)
K&N filter for
the stock filter replacement. Not a Caddmann or Coyote Kit. V&H Baggers
installed.
The settings ended up being 1:30 - 1:00 - 1:00 - 9:00. (I was set at
3:00-2:30-1:30-9:00 when I started) Not what you thought was ought to be? Yeah
me either.
Now if all I do is add one of the 2"x9" K&N air filters, block the Reed Valve
circuit and leave the Cold Start Cellinoids installed the settings are;
2:30 - 1:30 - 1:00 - 9:00.
Now this surprised the toast out of me. I expected to be at 3:30/3:00/1:30/9:00
but NO, not the case. I have been running way to rich. Gee no wonder the girl at
the market down the street said, "you smell like gas", when I had the K&N 9"
filter on like the Caddmann setup. TOO RICH!!!.
Now that being said, I expect my MPG to come back up a good bit because I will
keep my tires properly inflated, I will stay out of the throttle, even though I
too like acceleration, I will cruise more and scoot less, I will remember with
my SpeedoHealer unit installed, I am traveling now 10% faster than I was last
May when I was taking MPG readings (stock speedo was 10% off on the slow side),
I will also remember my new fairing is 4" taller and 2" wider than the stock
fairing and I will remember that windy days knock down MPG also.
As far as the installation of this product goes , the clips which come with this kit are pretty lame. Solder the connections if at all possible. If not, then at least buy some of the 2-into-1 press-on clips in the electrical section of Pepboys. Since you will probably be solding pretty close to the ECU unit itself, watch your heat and any don't apply heat any longer than you have to. I made my connection points under the battery where the ECU is located. I had no desire to take the tank off. As I say I used a 4 pin molex connector to make the TFI unit removable in the event of malfunction. I do not have an air kit on it but I do have a K&N filter in the stock position installed and I enlarged the intake channel by about 1/3 by removing the channel which is that semi square piece of rubber which sticks out of the back of the air filter housing and then I took a razor knife and made the remaining opening a full half circle.
Yes, check out Gadget's site also, you know it's on there.....LOL.
You can see the TFI below along with the SpeedoHealer to the right and the dual strobe units below, behind all the wires.
