Air Filter Mod
Well why not pick up maybe 10 more horsepower. It's easy to do and it works well AND you will be happy!!!. Here is a link to a procedure which will work fine and save me typing time. I left the air channel intact under the tank and the stock air cleaner is operational. Power is increased in all respects that I can tell.
Here is a link to the world famous Gadget site and a proven procedure.

I am having some issues on my bike, the bike seems hesitant to start and I actually "flooded it out" when starting it. Until the bike warms up, it just isn't idling right. It sounds like it can't get it mixture right until it's all warmed up. I said to heck with it and put the Cold Start Solenoids back in the system. Even though they click like hell, at least the bike starts easily. I wish I knew how to get around this as I would rather have them out.
UPDATE: After deciding that I can not live with those annoying Solenoids, they are out again. I started thinking about it and when I first pulled them out sometime ago, I was basing my TFI setting according to the recommendations of TFI off their forum. Well as a starting point, those recommendation are fine, for who I am not sure. However they happen to be a bit rich even for the 1600. Read what I wrote regarding the Colortune Plug and final TFI settings. What I wrote was "these settings as my final settings, "2:30 - 1:30 - 1:00 - 9:00. " Since I was running on the rich side of the settings before the Colortune test at "3:30/3:00/1:30/9:00", is it any wonder I was sputtering and if I barely touched the throttle the semi flooding would occur. DUH. So I went in the garage and played with the dials to determine a valid start up setting if you will. Believe it or not it started easily and almost best with POT at 1:00. That's off. LOL. It seemed to "start idle" well between 1:00-2:00. Interesting huh? Yeah I was going the wrong way with everything from the start. So as a final recommendation with regards to my 1600, I suggest 2:00-1:30-1:00-9:00.
So, I have no need to add or modify anything else to get it started and idling nicely. Most of my initial testing was done in cooler less humid air, so I will have to wait until winter to see if there are "Winter Startup/idle" settings. hehe I hope winter never comes... woohoooo more quiet power.
