"Not
everybody thinks motorcycle"
"If
people don't look for motorcycles, then they won't see motorcycles, they just
look through them"
Unfortunately, for us bikers, the above two statements are true, while we can
increase our odds of being seen by cagers, the fact remains that until people
look for motorcycles on the road, we will always be in danger. Until people are
not distracted when they drive, until people are not in a hurry to switch or
pull into lanes without warning, turn without looking and assume we are not
there, we are in danger. Until a time arrives when we as riders are the supreme
commanders of our wheels with respect to ability and intuitive driving, we are
in danger. Face it, we picked something to fall in love with that has more risk
than dating a crack addict. But as long as ideas and knowledge are passed along
to others, we all get smarter and hopefully we all go home at the end of the
ride. (And I don't mean heaven.)
Talk about a subject with no end,
well this is it. Actually, there is an end, it comes if you don't pay attention
to safety. There is so much information out
there regarding motorcycle safety that studying it all will leave you with
little time to ride. These are reports on reports, brochures, videos, classes,
web sites and it just keeps going. Hopefully I will be able to provide the most
current and proven thinking on the subject of motorcycle safety.
