I have a Magellan Explorist XL, which has everything I need
including the auto-route and re-route on-the-fly.

The riser block from Heli
Modified Inc., it has a nice option of a predrilled hole to
accommodate a Ram
Mount 1" ball. (RAM BALL 1" DIA. with 3/8-16 THREADED POST) Adding to
that a 1.75" arm and the Magellan GPS cradle, bang, really to roll. I
have a modified data cable I cut down and added a cig lighter plug to. I
had to they didn't have the car power cable out yet when I bought the
GPS unit as they were new. I strongly suggest you attach some sort of
fail safe cable from the bike to the GPS in the event the GPS unit
"comes out of the cradle which traveling down the road. Some thing
like a camera strap, so you don't drop them. I don't do GPS reviews
as I am not informed enough about them or the difference in brands to be
useful. The unit is "Environmental Proof", uses a CF memory card, stores
maps, has auto-route and re-route on-the-fly, big clear screen, little
buttons when you have big gloves on, dim-able screen, reasonable
internal battery life by 4 AA batteries.

Looks like we are ready
to taxi out to the runway...... like a bullet from the barrel of a
gun........I am digging this bike.
I sold off the Magellan in 12/07
and bought a Garmin ZUMO 450. Nice unit and it comes with its own base to
mount it with . Fits like a glove
