The only thing to really say
here is, save $12. Go to Wal-mart and buy this instead of the dealer's high
priced
filter. Works perfectly well.

If you do find some, buy them all
as they are hard to find. Click on the filter to see who makes it for
Walmart.
Oil Filters that fit most
Japanese bikes have 20 x 1.5mm threads, 14 psi by-pass valve, anti-drain back
valve, gasket diameter approximately 2.3 inches, O.D. approximately 2.75 inches,
length approximately 2.5 to 3.5 inches. If you have room, I recommend the longer
filters.

Shell Rotella-T Synthetic
5w-40 (blue container, not white), $13 / gallon at Wal-Mart.
Mobil Delvac-1
5w-40 (grey container, not black), $27 / gallon at
Petro stations, $20 /
gallon at Farm and Fleet.
Mobil-1 SUV 5w-40, about
$6 / qt anywhere.
AMSOil AMF 10w-40
synthetic motorcycle oil, about $6 / qt.
Golden Spectro Supreme,
(no price).
Motul 5100 Ester, (no
price).
The best petroleum oils are:

Chevron Delo 400 15w-40
(blue container) $7 / gallon at any auto parts store, $34 / 6 gallons at
Costco.
Mobil Delvac 1300 15w-40
(black container) $6 / gallon at any auto parts store, $21/ 4 gallons at
Sam's Club.
Shell Rotella-T 15w-40
(white container) $7 / gallon at Wall-Mart or any auto parts store, $34 / 6
gallons at Sam's Club.

Here is where I started,
Shell Rotella-T Synthetic
5w-40 (blue container, not white), $13 / gallon at Wal-Mart. This is the one
I am using along with the SuperTech filter.
The oil
on the left is for the rear gear oil change which I may do this every 2000k
miles as what came out was just nasty dirty looking. |

Anyway you see the socket cap
wrench that I bought. What a waste of $6, too much slippage. Looks pretty
though... and sort of shiny. |

Looking at the right side, you
remove the push rivet from the small black cover plate and slide the silver
access panel forward to reveal the oil top cap. |

Here is the under side drain bolt
and look at all that oil pour out of there. Don't loose the washer when you
take out the bolt. |

Look at all that real estate!!!
Wow so much room to work in. This is what the filter looked like by the time
I actually got it off. I could not believe it. The numbered display of tools
is what was used in ascending order to remove this little piece of hell
incarnate on earth. So save yourself time. Trust me. Go buy the set of oil
filter pliers shown in the center $12-15 at most auto parts houses. You just
grab the oil filter close to where it screws on to the bike and turn to the
left. Since we hear so
many dealer horror stories out there, I wanted to relay that when I called
the dealer I bought the bike from, Cool Springs Honda, Franklin, TN, and
asked to speak with the Sales Manager regarding this over site in the
previous oil filter change and the fact that the bike was not operational
and I would have to get a wrecker to get the bike out to the dealership and
who put this filter on so tight?!?!?..yada yada yada and basically whine at
this guy, his response was "I will bring my personal truck and my trailer
out to your house and pick you up and make this right, how's 0830 Friday?"
........double take....Sure, I'd love it.
One of my main job functions is Purchasing for our Corporation and I deal
with vendors all the time. I am everyone's customer and after a while you
know good vendors and bad vendors by the relationships you establish, the
measures of honesty and the cash value as well as the level of concern and
responsiveness they either do or do not bring to the table. I give Honda of
Cool Springs and Trevor, the Sales Manager an A+ for above and beyond
proactive approach to resolution. Although I did get the darn filter off, I
really appreciated the thought of not getting a wrecker bill and having to
convince a Service Manager I wasn't at fault. So bottom line, I am happy.
