So far
I haven't heard of anyone who likes their stock ST1300 seat. I know on
my last bike, a Kawasaki Nomad, the seat was horrible. You would think
in both cases, either company might pay an ounce of attention to all the
negative feedback from riders and do something that the riding world
might celebrate, a well thought out seat.
Well time to
wake up, nap time is over and we don't have a good stock seat. But at least
there are options.
To lower
the slope of the seat to the front, I went ahead
and bent the two tabs which the rear of the seat rest on for support, back just
enough to lock into the 2 back seat holes, when the seat is in the middle or
highest height position. This in effect lowers the seat flatter and you really
don't have to bend the tabs back that far to gain a modest amount for relief
from the forward lean of the stock seat positioning. Looking at the
picture to the left and below, the two tabs should be pointing straight up,
notice they are slightly bent back towards the rear of the bike. Nothing major
here mod wise. In the highest seat position it feels like the seat is almost
level, and of course the middle position is less level that the higher position.
The seat doesn't feel loose to me either.

I am (was) a Sargent
fan, then I was a Spencer Fan. But now, I really
am a Russell fan.
